Jonathan Mitchell – Coffey International Development, Practice Leader

Jonathan Mitchell is a leader in the Economic Growth Practice at Coffey International Development. In addition to managing a growing Practice of fifteen development professionals, he manages teams implementing complex projects in a range of developing countries. His technical area of focus is private sector development, market development, value chain analysis and policy formulation, and evaluation.

Jonathan has 26 years of professional experience as a development economist, half of which has been gained working on long-term technical assistance projects in Southern Africa – for the World Bank in Lesotho, DFID in Mpumalanga Province of South Africa, and the European Commission in Pretoria. My European experience has been in development policy research (Overseas Development Institute) and commercial consultancy (Ove Arup and Partners and Coffey International) and has involved short-term projects across Africa and South East Asia. He has written two critically-acclaimed books on value chain upgrading and tourism in developing countries.
